ASHANTI REGIONAL HEALTH DIRECTORATE IS ALERT

The Ashanti Regional Health Directorate says they are taking precautionary measures against the recent outbreak of cholera in the country which has killed at least nine people at Atebubu in the Brong Ahafo Region. Speaking on KAPITAL RADIO program ``YOUR HEALTH’’ Mr. Emmanuel Badu the Regional Health Promotion Officer said for the sake of proximity wise, it is prudent for the Regional health directorate to intensify their education campaign by educating the people in the region on how they should avoid contracting the disease since the region shares borders with the Brong Ahafo Region in the northern part. He further stated that the regional health office is well prepared enough both in logistic and personnel to handle any eventuality should there be any reported case in the region. Mr. Badu again advised the people in the region especially parents to take good care of their children by not allowing them to be playing on the ground and charged them to keep their environment clean as well. He further noted that the practice of high standard personal hygiene should be strictly adhere to and finally concluded that when one sees symptoms like vomiting, frequent release of bowel, severe headache or weakness the person should quickly prepare Oral Dehydrated salt (ORS) and drink it as first aid and quickly report at the nearest health facility as failing to do so may result in the death of the person.
