A
leading member of the National Democratic Congress and Editor of the Alhajj
Newspaper, Alhaji Bature is challenging claims by an aide to former President
Rawlings, Kofi Adams that a visit by the former president to the Castle last
two weeks was to check up on the sitting president. According to Alhaji Bature,
the meeting by the former President was meant to assure the sitting president
of his unflinching support for NDC ahead of the December elections. Aide to the
former has confirmed a report in today’s edition of the Daily Guide newspaper
that the two last Thursday held a meeting with President Mills at the Castle,
but refused to disclose details of the meeting except to say it lasted a few
minutes. It is the first time in many months the two have met. Media reports
have suggested that the meeting is the latest attempt to reconcile differences
between the two. But Kofi Adams denies this saying Mr. Rawlings visited
President Mills at the Castle to find how he was doing after he returned to the
routine check-up in the US. He describes the meeting as a positive development
in the NDC.
