The
Ashanti Regional Motor Traffic and Transport Unit of the Ghana Police Service has
expressed concern about what the service say is reckless driving on the part of
some drivers in the region, which it says is to blame for the recent spate of
road accidents. In the course of the week, an accident at Dakodwon led to the
injuring of scores of persons. There was another at Santati which led to some
deaths. Speaking in an exclusive interview with Kapital News Ashanti Regional Commanding
Officer of the MTTU Chief Superintendent
Godact Dodzi Hlordzi
said some drivers
do not adhere
to road traffic regulations
and also drive at top speed.
He also
mentioned that potholes are
also a major factor
contributing to road
accidents in the
metropolis. Chief Superintendent Hlordzi revealed that motorists can
call the emergency line 18555 for immediate assistance.
