SAVANNA ACCELERATED DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY

A project by the Savanna Accelerated Development Authority (SADA) to support schools to undertake subsistence farming activities has received commendation from agric industry experts. According to Executive Director of Agric focused NGO - Agro Mindset Organization, David Asare Asiamah, such projects are necessary to ensure Ghana’s food security and equitable economic transformation in the SADA zone. Chief Executive Officer of SADA, Alhaji Gilbert Seidu Iddi announced earlier this week in Wa that SADA would soon begin rolling out the school in agriculture project to support schools in subsistence farming so they will not depend on the government to provide food for them. The Agricultural Expert in an interview with Kapital News calls for the broadening of the concept of the project, beyond simply aiming at feeding students in the schools. David Asare Asiamah however notes that there are huge challenges facing the development of agriculture in the country and Sub-Saharan Africa at large, and calls for an immediate rethink of the traditional economic concepts and models relating to agriculture.
