Authorities at the University of Ghana are coming
under increasing pressure to recall all thirteen (13) students who were suspended
for their alleged involvement in the molestation of one Amina Haruna over a
theft case there. The students were suspended and others rusticated by the
University last year after a video of the molestation act became public,
claiming their actions had brought the name of the University into disrepute.
The students subjected Amina Haruna to physical assault and molestation for
stealing a laptop and a mobile phone at the Mensah Sarbah Hall Annex B on the
night of 6 May, 2011. An Accra High Court on Tuesday discharged all 13 male
students for want of prosecution. The National Union of Ghana Students has since
called on the University of Ghana to as a matter of urgency, recall the
students back to continue with their academics, or face their wrath. Austin
Brako Powers is Press and Information Officer of the National Union of Ghana
Students.
According to NUGS, the students were not treated
fairly by the university authorities.Austin Brako Powers is Press and

Rockson Nelson Dadiamekpor has however told Kapital news he would soon
officially write to the university to demand the re - instatement of the
students. He does not rule out taking a court action against authorities there
if they do not re – instate the students.
