CONSUMER PROTECTION AGENCY UNDER FIRE

The Ashanti Regional zonal officer of the Ghana Standard Authority Mr. Kwasi Owusu Boadu says the Consumer Protection Agency is not vibrant enough to put pressure on product manufacturers in the country to produce quality and standardized product for consumers in the country. In an interview with Kapital news, Mr. Boadu disclosed that elsewhere; the body that ensures that consumers are not over exploited is active and makes sure that the final consumer of a particular product is protected but in our system, the case is different as the Consumer Protection Agency is too relaxed. He however caution consumers to be on their guide and report any product they buy that sought to over exploit them or deprived them of value of their money at the appropriate office for the necessary action to be taken.
