Vice
President-designate, Mr Kwesi Amissah-Arthur says those who doubt his loyalty
to the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) have not really known him.
In an interview with state broadcaster GTV, he said he was a founding member of
the NDC and participated fully in all the electoral campaigns of the party.
Following his nomination as vice president under extraordinary circumstances
triggered by the sudden death of President John Atta Mills last week, some in
the NDC have expressed skepticism about Mr Amissah-Arthur’s ability to make any
significant impact on the electoral chances of the NDC. Some have argued that
he has not been known as a core member of the NDC. But in reaction, Mr. Amissah
Arthur said he participated fully in the campaigns of the NDC in 1992, 1996 and
in 2000. He said even though he was not in government, he traveled with Prof.
Mills all over the country and was a member of the Central Regional team of the
party in the campaigns.
