After a marathon meeting of the committee yesterday,
it decided by an overwhelming majority that vetting process be public. It would
be held in the speaker’s conference room at 9am on Monday. The House will then sit the same day to approve
the nomination. Meanwhile, there has been varying reactions
from civil society organizations, political analysts and members of the public
to the nomination of Kwasi Amissah Arthur as Vice President. Political Science
lecturer at KNUST Mohammed Abbas has described the choice as strategic, while Convener
of the Forum for Governance and Justice Dr. Clement Apak has described the
choice as the most appropriate political decision. A leading member of the
ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Ekow Spio-Garbrah, who was also
one of those reportedly being considered for the slot has backed the selection
of Kwasi Amissah-Arthur as the Vice Presidential nominee, describing it as
appropriate. He describes Mr. Amissah-Arthur as who has made many contributions
to the party over the years. The New patriotic Party meanwhile says its chances
in the December elections look brighter with the choice of Kwesi Amissah Arthur
as vice to John Mahama, if he runs with him for the 20
