The Ghana Association of University Administrators
say they want an out of court settlement with the national labour commission
after it received a writ of summons from the Accra High Court to appear before
it. The Writ was filed by the National Labour Commission, against the
University Administrators, for failing to comply with an earlier order from the
Commission to resume work. According to the NLC, going to court has become
necessary because the administrators refused to return to the negotiating table
thus making the strike illegal. The University Administrators have been on
strike in protest of their current working conditions following their migration
onto the Single Spine Salary Structure. Regional chairman of GUA Solomon
Pamford, tells Kapital news an out of court settlement is necessary.
