The National Disaster Management Organization says it is adequately
prepared to deal with the possible flood situation that may arise when the
Bagre Dam in the Burkina Faso is spilt later this week. According to the
Burkinabe authorities, the Bagre Dam will be opened on Friday. An
estimated 200,000 residents in the Northern and Upper Regions of Ghana will be
affected by the spillage from the dam. Spillage from the Bagre Dam has in the
past caused havoc to low lying areas in the Upper Regions. Speaking with Kapital
News, Chief Disaster Control Officer at NADMO, Mr. Yao Doe Tamakloe says it is
monitoring the situation to adequately deal with it. Mr.
Tamakloe states that although NADMO is not fully fledged logistics-wise, his
outfit is better equipped than in the erstwhile administration.
