MILLS' FUNNERAL

Chairman of the Funeral Planning Committee Mr. Totobi Kwakye has debunked the media reports that the cost of the casket which would be used to bury the mortal remains of the late president John Evans Atta Mills will cost 75,000 dollars. Mr. Totobi Kwakye explained that publication is a figment of an individual’s imagination to create controversy. He further stated that the Committee has made a policy to utilize the monies accrued from public donations efficiently for the late President Mills’ but will not hesitate to alert for extra funds. Meanwhile the greater Accra regional police commander DCOP Partric Timbila has assured the general public of high rated security at the funeral grounds. He outlines some guidelines which should be followed to allow a congenial cohesion between sympathizers and the security personnel that will be deployed to the funeral grounds and appealed to the general public to cooperate with them for a smooth ceremony for the three day span of late president mill’s burial. There will however be a similar arrangements here in the region where the spokesperson for the Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr. Frances Dodovi, says there is no formal dress code, other than the socially approved colours of mourning, for anyone who wishes to be a part of the final funeral rites for the late President John Evans Atta Mills. Mr. Dodovi also added that donations, either in cash or kind, are allowed at the funeral grounds. Giving a rundown of the schedule of events to Kapital News, he mentioned that the 3-day long final funeral rites will be held at Asafo’s Jubilee Park starting today with a vigil to last through the night till 8 O’clock Thursday morning, the main funeral day, which starts at midday to 6pm. Friday, which has been declared a national holiday only for the event, will see giant screens put up for a live stream to enable an observation of the burial
