CHRISTIAN SERVICE UNIVERSITY COLLEGE LECTURER UPSET ABOUT POLITICAL DISCOURSE IN THE COUNTRY

Reverend Justice Boffah Poku Mensah a lecturer at the Christian Service University College has called for church and spiritual leaders to be part of national discourse that will ensure that there is peace in the country. According to Reverend Boffah, partisan politics have divided the nation to the point that it is very difficult for church leaders to openly express their opinion on national issues without some section of the general public aligning them to a political party if is not in their favour. This practice he says is not in the interest of the nation as even in the ancient Israel, there was political power as well as prophets who from time to time give directions and participate in national discourse but Ghanaians have relegated this to the background and have resulted to propaganda giving way to intemperate language that sort to cause violence and chaos in the country.  He therefore advised political leaders to educate their supporters on the how they should tolerate varied views and opinion even if they of different opinion. ‘What is retarding the progress in peace building in this country is the fact that we do not make objective analysis, we have politicize all issues including national issues’’ he lamented. He however admitted that it is not too late for us to start getting spiritual leaders into the decision making body of the state since it will strengthen the state both physically and spiritually.
